On Monday, the 28th October 2019, we are kindly inviting you to join us for the most thorough confrontation with orange wines, so far. Orange wines are closing a relatively small, but very important gap in the global wine market, since respect for tradition intertwined with modern wine production insights have proven to satisfy the producer as well as the consumer. This year, OWF will feature a novelty: wine producers will be presenting also red wines, produced according to the same method as orange wine.
More about orange wines…
Maceration or prolonged contact with grape skins is a traditional white wine production procedure, to which more and more winemakers are returning – in places with or without such tradition. To present wines at the Orange Wine Festival, winemakers must confirm compliance of their wines with the Festival standard including natural procedures, prolonged maceration, spontaneous fermentation, possibly little intervention and low sulfur content.
Each year brings new faces to the festival. Since there are more and more winemakers, especially young ones, deciding to continue their parent’s tradition, this year will not represent an exemption. The wine presentation will be supplemented by delicacies authored by caterers and producers sharing the same philosophy and the positive attitude towards nature and environment.
